My funny husband.

I had to blog about this so I could remember it years down the road. I have such a loving and caring husband.

So last night Kirby and I are watching TV on the sofa. “Uhho” I say with NO panic what so ever in my voice.
Kirby shoots up with a horrified expression on his face and stares at me.
“Oh it’s fine, we just may want to bring the towels in from outside.” I say. Again with no panic.
He sits there still just staring at me in horror and panic.
I point out the window and say, “It looks like rain. I don't want the towels to get wet.”
He lets out this huge sigh and says, “You scared the crap out of me!! I thought your water was breaking or something! I was so freaked out. All I could think about was that I wasn’t ready. We have so much to do!”

Then he sat back down and kept watching TV.

He is so funny and I love that he was so concerned. I'm also now aware that when the time does come I will have to be the calm one.

Now Entering the Third Trimester.

It's here! The third trimester!

So far my pregnancy has been fairly easy and uncomplicated. My morning sickness was basically non-existent. Well the vomiting part of it was. I still felt really ill and eating was the only thing that kept me from loosing it. In my first trimester I was having a very annoying problem where my hip would slip out of place unexpectedly. That made standing up more of a "standing up then falling down situation". Super fun.

My second trimester flew by with out me even noticing. Obviously, rolling over in bed wasn't as easy as it used to be and the heartburn was enough to make Tums sound delicious, but really it wasn't that bad. Everyone keeps asking me about what I have been craving. Sorry to disappoint. No pickles and ice cream for this girl. My everlasting cravings have been for anything potato related and WATERMELON! I shutter to think how much money I have spent on watermelon. But it is just SO good. One very good reason I'm not 100 pounds heavier is because almost everything else I have been craving is available only in Salt Lake. And, while Wasatch Broiler sounds like heaven right now, the four hour drive puts me back in my place and I eventually just give up.

This picture was taken around Easter and my belly has grown since then but I don't have a good picture of it.

Maybe I can get a few good ones while we are in Hawaii.

IT'S A BOY!

I know most of you out there already know this from face book but I thought I would share the whole experience of the ultra sound. Or at least the highlights...

I was super nervous about having to have a full bladder for the ultrasound. I hate the feeling of having to pee. I did as instructed and when I get there they informed me that an emergency had come in before me and they were about 20 minutes behind. Yikes!

But once we got back to ultrasound room I couldn't have cared less about it. Getting to see the baby floating around in there was awesome! The ultra sound tech was showing us different things here and there (And how she knew what they were I have no idea.) At one point we were looking at a picture that appeared to be the baby with the hands right up by his face. Almost like he wanted to suck his thumb. My mom pointed it out, and we were all cooing and caaing except the ultra sound tech (she was spunky, I liked her). "What in the world are you looking at?" she asked. My mom pointed it out on the screen and the tech just giggled and said, "Ya those are the kidneys...." Not even a full minute after that happened she freeze framed a picture, "Well, now we know what we're having!" I stared at the screen for a second. I still thought it was boy but with what had just happened to my mom I didn't want to be wrong. "And that would beeeee???" I questioned. She happily says, "right there it is!" NOT HELPING! "A boy???" I said timidly. And then the rejoicing began!

Kirby was cracking off jokes left and right and it was SO hard to keep my belly still while the tech was trying to get the rest of the pictures she needed. And if I wasn't moving Gerbs was! (We nicknamed him Gerbs until we find a real name...and if we keep moving at the current rate, that is what will be going on his birth certificate.)  We have to go in and get about ultra sound done at 23 weeks because they couldn't get a great picture of the heart. But I'm not complaining. any chance to see him again I'll take it!

The most wonderful time of year...

I know what you thinking, "Christmas is way over! Don't even talk about it for another 8 months!" But while Christmas holds the rights to the song, St. Patrick's Day is my favorite time of the year.

What?!?! you may be asking. St. Patrick's is like a non-holiday. You don't even get time off work for that one. But who wouldn't love a holiday based around cheer, beer, and short people? It is also the holiday that starts spring off. And, being the "non-holiday" that it is, there is absolutely NO PRESSURE! I mean besides finding some sort of green to wear around, the holiday is as easy as dying your milk green.

My mom always did a good job of making every holiday fun. For instance, what kid doesn't love Green eggs and ham for breakfast? It's Dr. Seuss and St. Patrick's day all rolled into one. And, while some might cringe at the thought of Corned Beef and Cabbage, it was like a delicacy at our house.

But back to basics... The number one reason I love St. Patrick's day is because after a slew of holidays full of stress and planning comes the one holiday about relaxing and enjoying life. No stress, no planning, no expectation, no expensive gifts to buy, or romantic evenings to plan. It's just fun.

So Merry Spring! And Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Could it be a boy?!?!

Yesterday was my 14 week appointment. It was a pretty fast and easy one. All we did was listen to the heart beat and he answered some questions. When we were listening to the heart beat the Dr. commented that it sounded like its a boy. I have been thinking it was a boy from about 8 weeks and Kirby thinks it is a girl. I sort of giggled and asked the Dr. why he thought it was a boy. He told me that, in his experience, when the heart beat is a little slower it is usually a boy. He also said that he is rarely wrong about that. We can find out at 18 weeks what the gender is but I'm taking bets right now I have 3 for a girl and 1 (Well me) for a boy. I suppose only time will tell but I am getting excited to know...

Our one problem is that Kirby and I can't come up with any boy names we really like... we've found some that I like well enough but he is on the fence about all of them. The good news is that we have a girls name pick out and almost ready to go AND I have a few back up's.

Were having baby!

Alright friends. It has been killing me not to share but Mike and I are expecting a baby August 9th!

We have been telling people in waves. We wanted our immediate family to know... well immediately. So they were first. Then we told close friends and our jobs (In case of morning sickness and time off for Dr. Appointments). We waited until I was 12 weeks to announce it to extended family and 13 weeks to announce it to the general world.

We are SO SO excited. We, also, have NO idea what we are doing. People are constantly asking me questions and I have no idea what they're saying. It's like learning a whole new job with it's own language.
